Hello
Hi my name is Alexa Jau and I cut, sew, pack and ship every Aurorei piece by hand from my Brooklyn, NY studio space!
I started Aurorei because I was looking for super comfortable clothing that still let me feel professional and confident. I have Crohn’s disease and had a lot of trouble during school finding any clothing that didn’t put me in pain — that weren’t sweatpants.
I studied menswear at RISD and created a womenswear line based off the menswear basics I’d learned in school. After dealing with a slew of different harmful medications I wanted to make sure that the clothing was free of all toxins, as natural as possible, and didn’t hurt the people or planet that it came from.
I hope Aurorei helps more people build a comfortable, functional, minimalistic, and lifelong sustainable wardrobe.
The Materials
I am committed to working with only natural and organically sourced materials. All Aurorei fabrics are woven in a 75+ year old mill outside of Osaka, Japan. The mill shares my commitment to extreme attention to detail and sustainable manufacturing.
